Almost Time!

I leave on Saturday!

The family is coming with me as we explore some of Europe for a family vacation! We will be landing in Reykjavik, Iceland at 6:30am Sunday Sept. 5th! (We'll leave here at 9:30pm Saturday the 4th) The time difference will be 4 hours. We have an apartment right in the city and we will stay there until Wednesday Sept. 8th.

The next leg of the trip is a stay in London! We have an apartment about 1 block away from Big Ben and I can't wait to see the city! London will be a 5 hour time difference from the states.

Saturday, the 11th, we will fly into Scotland (I believe landing in Glasgow) and then take a scenic ride in our rental car until we hit Stirling which is when I will begin my stay on campus while the family camps out in a local hotel. We'll meet up in between my orientation events to continue the exploration and I believe the family heads home Sept. 14th.

I begin classes on Sept. 15th! I am really excited since I have been so bummed I am the only one not in school right now!

Packing has actually been going really well and I think I might be packing lighter than I expected! Who would have thought?!

I'll update as soon as I can and post pictures of the Carey's in Europe!

Gettin' Started

So, I have never done this blogging thing so I am setting up my profile as I watch A Knights Tale in my lovely Worcester apartment.

I am setting up this blog to stay in touch with everyone in the states as I travel to Scotland for my study abroad program at Stirling University! I'll head across the pond at the end of August/beginning of September with the whole Carey clan in tow to explore the continent and then be left all by my lonesome to start my studies.

In Stirling, they begin teaching on September 15th and I get a midterm break October 25th - 29th. Classes end on November 30th and then I will hang around for finals. You can check out the schedule here under Autumn 2010/2011: http://www.aro.stir.ac.uk/sessions/sessions-home.php

I am pretty thrilled to have this opportunity and can't wait to get over there! I will spend the summer planning out some places I would like to travel and preparing for departure while trying to earn enough money to support my big travel plans!

I know none of this was really exciting but it's a start! Maybe by the time I get over there, I will have mastered this whole blogging thing (since technology and I are such good friends!)
